ABOUT US...

Untitled design.png

Australian indie rock trio My Giddy Aunt could be most aptly described as a rainbow tornado, combining the witty lyricism of singer-songwriters such as Courtney Barnett with a dash of Springsteen-esque DRAMA and genre-defying arrangements reminiscent of Gang of Youths or The Cardigans. Their beautifully detailed soundscapes and punchy guitar work compliment a live act so full of energy that it could power a small town.

The all-queer & neurodivergent group from Naarm have earned a reputation for their colourful and diverse musical palette, underpinned by memorable songwriting with plenty of heart, passion and more than a touch of whimsy.

Inclusion and self-expression are at the core of My Giddy Aunt’s ethos and critters of all stripes will feel welcome at their live shows. The ‘delightfully charming’ (Dave Ruby Howe, JJJ Unearthed) trio's debut album ‘8 Billion Characters in the Worst Movie Ever’ was released in 2024, a project on which their creativity and eclecticism run rampant. MGA surround themselves with characters as unique and strange as they feel, offering a view of the world from an outsider looking in. Highlights include singles ‘Bugs,’ an anthem of insect revolution, and ‘Laika,’ a tribute to the under-appreciated queen of the stars.

My Giddy Aunt has performed at the Port Fairy Folk Festival in ‘23 & ‘24 and gigs regularly around their hometown Naarm/Melbourne, while their recent releases have enjoyed national airplay on Triple J Unearthed, PBS 106.7, SYN 90.7, 3CR and JOY 94.9, among others.
